Food parcel project

In connection with Burnley FC in the Community and Burnley Together, Charter House is currently operating as a local pick-up point for individuals and families in the Brunshaw area to collect emergency food parcels.
The produce for each food parcel is gathered at the community foodbank in the centre of Burnley and delivered to us, or collected by us, each day and stored at our resource centre ready for collection.
Each food parcel contains enough food to last 7 days and can be customised with items such as pet food provisions, toiletries and baby products upon request, to meet the needs of each referral.

If you are in need of an emergency food parcel, please contact Burnley Together

on 01282 686402 or contact@burnleytogether.org.uk

School Uniform Project

Each year, we work in collaboration with Burnley Together and CalicoHomes to help collect pre-owned, clean, wearable School Uniforms to be donated to families in our community.
Donated items can include jumpers, shirts, blazers, PE kits, shoes, trainers, trousers and skirts of all sizes.
Charter House is just one of many donation points across Burnley accepting school uniform items, which will then be collected and available for the public to collect from the Relove the Preloved Uniform Shop in Burnley town centre, Chancery Walk (near Clinton Cards).

Here are some other donation points throughout Burnley:
Community Grocer, Valley Street
• Gannow Community Centre
• Burnley Boys and Girls club
• Burnley Wood Community Centre
• Tesco Extra, Burnley
• Tesco, Padiham
• George – Asda, Burnley
• Healthier Heroes, Burnley Market
• Cabin Care and Share – The Fold

Shoebox Appeal

In previous years, we have used our online and community presence to help carry out a Christmas Shoebox Appeal. This project was launched with the aim of bringing Christmas gifts to the elderly and those less fortunate in our community.
We received some fantastic donations from local organisations and individuals in our community to help run this project, from woolly hats, scarves and gloves to tree decorations, chocolates and books

Holiday hunger

From 2020-2021, Charter House worked closely with Burnley Pendle and Rossendale Council for Voluntary Service (CVS), Fare Share and Holiday Huger East Lancs to help prepare and distribute school meals to children throughout Burnley during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This project was aimed towards helping children and families who stopped receiving the Governments Free School Meal scheme due to the Covid-19 lockdown and parents who may have struggled without this support. Each parcel provided breakfast and lunch for 1 child for a week.
We received overwhelming support from other local community organisations and received social media recognition from the world-famous footballer, Marcus Rashford, for our efforts in supporting the children in our community.

Covid-19: Meal Delivery Project

When the Covid-19 pandemic hit in 2020, Charter House worked closely with Burnley Together to help deliver ready-cooked meals to the elderly, the vulnerable and those shielding throughout the lockdown.
With many members of the public, as well as our staff team at Charter House, volunteering their time to help prepare, cook, package and deliver over 35,000 meals to those in need across Burnley.
Without the donations from local organisations and the unwavering support from volunteers, this vital, life saving project would not have been possible. Charter House would like to thank everyone involved for helping our community get through such a difficult and challenging time.
