What is Charter House Resource Centre?

Charter House Resource Centre & Sensory Room C.I.C. has been established to benefit people who have special needs or a disability, the elderly and people with dementia. Our main values are to learn, socialise and have fun!

Here at Charter House Resource Centre, we provide a safe environment for adults with learning disabilities, elderly people and those with dementia. It is a place where they can meet others and join in with structured and meaningful activities. We ensure that each and every individuals need is met.

We offer a range of learning opportunities, delivered in a supportive and informal environment. We are based in Burnley. Charter House Resource Centre is easily accessible from surrounding areas including Blackburn, Accrington, Rossendale, Pendle and all of East Lancashire.

Community Interest Company (C.I.C)

Charter House Resource Centre C.I.C is a community interest company which means we are a not-for-profit organisation. Any profits we make will be reinvested into Charter House to provide the community with the best equipment and services possible for people with learning disabilities.

We are a friendly, fun and welcoming business who provide day care activities for adults and young people aged 16+ with a disability.

We offer lots of different activity sessions (see our resource centre page) as well as a multi sensory room available to hire for people of all ages and abilities.
As a centre we provide the up most care for everyone we provide a service for.

We have a person centred approach where we tailor all our activities around the individual person, to ensure that they have a positive and engaging experience to meet their needs.

Charter House Resource Centre is managed by Carolyn and Jason Smith – a married couple who have worked for over 20 years with people who have disabilities. Carolyn has managed a large and successful day centre in Nelson for over 4 years.  Jason has worked with people who have a wide range of learning disabilities – both for the NHS, and more recently a large private company for over 10 years.
